Join Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful (KDWB) on Thursday, September 12 for a talk by Dr. Todd Bridges, Professor of Practice at UGA’s Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems and founder of USACE’s Engineering With Nature® (EWN®) program.
The talk, titled “Building Resilience for the People and the Planet,” will discuss how innovative nature-based solutions can directly benefit communities. In response to a changing climate, these solutions can improve community resilience, protect homes and businesses from flooding, beautify neighborhoods, and create more green spaces for everyone to enjoy. Learn about sustainable practices that can lead to cleaner air and water, better health, and cost savings through reduced energy consumption and maintenance expenses.
KDWB is a Keep America Beautiful affiliate local to Whitfield County, Georgia, “dedicated to creating a vibrant community by engaging individuals to take great responsibility for their local environment.” Rooting for the Ridge, based in Rocky Face, GA and created by the Dalton Resilient Community committee, is a community-based resiliency and conservation initiative that shares knowledge with both locals and visitors about sustainability, wildlife preservation and the history of Rocky Face Ridge and beyond.
Dr. Bridges’ seminar is a free event and is open to the public, and will be held in Dalton State College’s Goodroe Auditorium. No registration is required. Learn more here.
