San Antonio River Authority staff had the pleasure of helping coordinate the 155th Annual Meeting of the American Fisheries Society in early August. The meeting was a huge success with over 1,100 attendees!
Attendees presented hundreds of papers and posters, took part in the Black Bass 2025 symposium, removed 342 adult apple snails and more than 600 apple snail egg cases and wrapped up the week by eating more than 450 lbs. of BBQ at Pinkerton’s in Legacy Park.
River Authority staff presented on topics such as pre- and post-restoration monitoring protocols, freshwater mussel and Guadalupe Bass reintroductions, the Otilla Dam removal project, invasive species management, communication related to extreme weather events and Mission reach fish surveys. It was our pleasure to help host AFS 155, and can’t wait for AFS 156 in Columbus, OH.
