Partner Takeover: Sea and Shoreline’s Environmental Dredging

What is Environmental dredging?

Environmental dredging involves carefully removing contaminated or accumulated harmful sediments from water bodies—like lakes, rivers, and coastal areas—and is important for creating and maintaining healthy habitats (for manatees and other sea life) and for ensuring navigable access for boats & ships.

At Sea & Shoreline, we use hydraulic ‘suction’ dredging to remove all the muck from the seafloor. Lakes, rivers, and streams become the settling area for runoff from urban areas. Over time they become slimed and filled with polluted fine sediments that degrade water clarity. By removing the muck, it allows us to plant native submerged aquatic vegetation as natural infrastructure to keep the water clean and restore ecological processes.

Environmental dredging is one of many aquatic restoration services we offer. Learn more here.
