Partner Takeover: Duke University

This week’s N-EWN partner takeover features Duke University!

Duke has a deep institutional commitment to interdisciplinarity, a key feature of Engineering With Nature and nature-based solutions projects. In addition to training students to work on these complex projects via the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment, the Duke Marine Lab, and Duke University Pratt School of Engineering, the university has specific programs and initiatives focused on nature-based solutions, including but not limited to:

• Duke RESTORE, an initiative based at the Nicholas School of the Environment, focuses on advancing the field of ecosystem restoration to enhance resilience of natural and human systems.
• The Nature Activation Hub, hosted by the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability, engages in actionable research and purposeful partnerships to overcome barriers and identify opportunities that advance nature-based solutions.
• The Pratt School of Engineering’s new Climate and Sustainability Engineering master’s program, which includes a focus area on infrastructure adaptation and mitigation.
