Natural Infrastructure Highlight: Oyster Reefs

This month’s natural infrastructure feature is the oyster reef! Oysters are more than just delicious: they also serve as a key tool in protecting communities from storms and flooding. When they aren’t being gulped down at trendy restaurants, they naturally form dense reefs along our coastlines that help to slow the movement of water.

Aw shucks, thanks oysters!
