Restoring Florida’s waterways—one clam at a time.
As part of one of Florida’s first multi-trophic shoreline restoration projects, we recently deployed millions of native clams into the Indian River Lagoon at the Titusville Causeway. These clams, descended from a population that survived previous algal blooms, can collectively filter up to 80 million gallons of water per day—supporting cleaner water, healthier habitats, and more resilient shorelines.
This innovative, science-driven approach is a powerful example of how nature-based solutions can help solve some of our toughest environmental challenges.
In partnership with the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida, we’re proud to be part of a project that’s setting the standard for coastal restoration across the state.
