Webinar: New USACE Rule, New Possibilities for Water Resources Projects

On Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m., Duke University’s Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability will host a webinar reviewing the USACE’s new proposed rule that establishes updated procedures for water resources projects.

USACE’s Principles, Requirements, and Guidelines dictate how the Army Corps invests in water resources projects. The rule will update agency-specific procedures (ASPs) for how Principles, Requirements, and Guidelines are implemented, opening the door for USACE projects that place more priority on local issues, incorporate nature-based or nature-enhanced alternatives, and are more likely to provide co-benefits.

This webinar will include a wide range of experts to explore the history of ASPs and how this rule will change them moving forward.

Speakers:

  • Robyn Colosimo, Director for Policy and Legislation to the Assistant Secretary of the Army
  • Sally Ericsson, former Associate Director for Natural Resources, Energy and Science at the White House Office of Management and Budget; former Associate Director for Natural Resources, White House Council on Environmental Quality
  • Jimmy Hague, Senior Water Policy Advisor, The Nature Conservancy
  • Todd Bridges, Professor of Practice and Associate Director for Public-Private Partnerships, Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems, University of Georgia; former Senior Research Scientist at USACE
  • Moderator: Lydia Olander, Program Director, Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability, Duke University
