Partner Profile: AECOM

AECOM is Making NBS a Reality Across the Globe

As a full-service design, management, environmental, and energy company, AECOM has unique experience integrating Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and equity into our programs.  Our approach emphasizes social and environmental objectives, placing AECOM at the forefront of natural infrastructure and hybrid solutions. Partnering with the Network for Engineering with Nature (N-EWN) provides a pathway to make these solutions more mainstream, impactful, and sustainable. We are committed to bringing our experience to N-EWN, sharing knowledge and collaborating in the development of research, guidance materials, and policy.  Recent examples of similar partnerships include:

  • We are leading multiple efforts under our Sustainable Legacies initiative including developing real-world natural labs like the Natural Capital Laboratory where nature restoration is measured and observed to better understand its long-term benefits.
  • AECOM partnered with The Nature Conservancy to further nature-based solutions visibility and funding for hazard mitigation through guidebooks and workshops.
  • As part of The Sustainable Markets Initiative Nature Working Group, AECOM served on the Measurement and Transparency Taskforce to develop an auditing and assessment framework to predict the impact of future infrastructure projects on nature and take action at the earliest stages of project consideration.
