LimnoTech is proud to collaborate with the DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE), the Historic Congressional Cemetery, and the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) to advance green infrastructure planning and design at one of Washington, DC’s most cherished landmarks.
This innovative project embodies Engineering With Nature (EWN) principles — blending natural systems with science and engineering to create resilient, community-centered spaces. Working closely with AWS and residents, LimnoTech developed and pilot-tested a community education and participatory planning methodology supported by DOEE. Community workshops featured river and walking tours, interactive mapping, and visioning sessions — all designed to deepen understanding of green infrastructure’s co-benefits and ensure community voices shaped every step of the process.
Through nature-based solutions (NBS) such as green infrastructure retrofits, we’re working to not only manage stormwater sustainably but also enhance biodiversity, cultural connections, and climate resilience.
