HDR has strengthened its commitment to creating a resilient future by joining Network for Engineering With Nature, a community of researchers, practitioners and educators that fosters the integration of natural systems into infrastructure planning and design.

“We strive to design sustainable, resilient and equitable projects at HDR,” said John Henderson, HDR’s chief executive officer. “Our team looks forward to learning and sharing with N-EWN, as collaboration is a key component of advancing standards for effective nature-based solutions throughout our communities.”

N-EWN is a collaborative network led by the Army Corps of Engineers and the University of Georgia’s Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems. It focuses on the alignment of natural and engineering processes to deliver economic, environmental and social benefits. N-EWN brings together leaders in science, engineering and environmental policy.

Through its partnership with N-EWN, HDR will contribute to multidisciplinary research and project development opportunities that seek to maximize the benefits of nature-based solutions. The collaboration will address complex environmental issues, including climate change resilience, ecosystem restoration, water resource management and more.

“I am thrilled we are welcoming HDR to the N-EWN family,” said Amanda Tritinger, Ph.D., P.E., deputy program manager for the USACE Engineering With Nature program. “Their system-based approaches to engineering solutions across diverse environments, with an added emphasis on equity, have consistently impressed me. I am particularly excited about their commitment to support the N-EWN’s Education Working Group, where their expertise and dedication will undoubtedly be a great addition to our collective efforts. I look forward to their innovative contributions as we continue advancing our shared goals.”
